19-year-old Brisbane artist Mallrat has just released a new track featuring fellow Australian artist, rapper Allday. ‘UFO’ is pure dream-pop, with lush trancelike vocals over a simple and effective beat. As simple and straightforward as the song’s production is, it manages to beautifully capture an ethereal and otherworldly feeling.
Allday’s feature adds a nice contrast to Mallrat’s delicate vocals. The two sound lovely paired together — reminiscent of Allday’s feature on Troye Sivan‘s Blue Neighborhood. Mallrat’s ‘UFO’ is a track in a similar vein.
“UFO’s could take me home, I’m missing my old room,” Mallrat sings. ‘UFO’ isn’t profound or deep, but it’s enjoyable and relatable, especially for fans her age.
