On March 17, John Adams released two new singles: ‘Things That Make You Beautiful’ and ‘See You Again.’ Most pop music tends to shy away from religious material, but Adams couldn’t help infusing ‘See You Again’ with one of his experiences with religion. Speaking about the song, he said, “I wrote the song when a friend’s dad passed away. I wouldn’t consider myself a religious person, but the only words I can ever find to comfort the people left behind is the hope that there’s a heaven.”
Both ‘See You Again’ (above) and ‘Things That Make You Beautiful’ (below) showcases John’s natural singing voice, and prove he’s got strengths when it comes to writing, too. He blends his acoustic sound and vivid lyrics to create a song that is striking and memorable, especially in comparison to the more formulaic guitar/acoustic sound that most artists go after.
