Listen: Zach Callison – ‘War!’ Debut Single

Los Angeles based Zach Callison has released his debut single, ‘War!’, a rousing mix of styles woven together effortlessly. Callison’s pipes are to thank for the song’s ability to intersperse big band elements and horns, bluesy undertones, with hints of rap and rock. In writing, all of these different elements sound like polar opposites, but from the very start of ‘War!’ production flows to good effect as Callison navigates verses and chorus, transitioning from traditional singing to rapping with ease.

There’s something about this interesting blend that could easily draw comparisons to No Doubt. Rock-inspired hooks partner with theatrical and energetic vocals for a true performance. Lyrically, ‘War!’ is just as crazy as many No Doubt songs, too — Callison sings of an intense love affair and promises of revenge.

This hyper-energetic amalgam of a tune is the first off Callison’s EP, A Picture Perfect Hollywood Heartbreak, due out later this year. If ‘War!’ and the EP’s title are any indication, Callison’s debut is lining up to be a must listen.
