Bluesy vocals give romantic song unique depth

18 year old London-based artist Emma McGrath has recently released ‘Love You Better’ — the lead single from her forthcoming Silent Minds EP. Expected for an April 13 release, Silent Minds boasts a highly qualified team behind it including Grammy Award winning Jimmy Hogarth (‘Love You Better’), Brit School alumni Jackson and Rhiannon Mair.

McGrath’s voice and musical style on ‘Love You Better’ are nuanced and effective at creating an atmospheric and emotional track. McGrath’s talents have caught the eye of the PRS Foundation, the UK’s leading charitable funder of new music and talent development across all genres. In 2015, McGrath was awarded the foundation’s Lynsey de Paul prize, and in 2017 she received the Women Make Music grant for the development and release of her upcoming EP.

The lyrics for ‘Love You Better’ reveal a unique depth, made more profound by McGrath’s delivery. “It’s an interesting song, that can be viewed in two different ways,” said McGrath. Speaking of the chorus and its different meanings, she said, “The lyrics […] have juxtaposing meanings – ‘I’ll become a better person’ or ‘I’m better than that person.’ It says a lot about the attitude of an individual in love.”
