Twenty-two year old Australian Nick de la Hoyde recently released the music video for his latest single, “Never Gonna Beg For It”, the second song from his upcoming EP. “Never Gonna Beg For It” is an angsty genre-skewering track mixing an RnB beat tweaked with some pop and hip-hop influences. The track flows with lyrical precision, even though the lyrics walk a fine line between being relatable and too personal. “Never Gonna Beg For It” shines when Nick paints with the broadest strokes with lyrics like “Cause I don’t know where your heart is / Cause I don’t know where you are,” and “Showing everybody love, but I never get the love from the one I really want back”. The song’s rap bridge and it’s electro-intro are wonderful; the track really begins to come to life on the intro, and Nick’s fast-paced lyrics are best suited for rapping. The video itself is a smooth and polished production from Tribal Apes, directed by Lawrence Lim that showcases de la Hoyde as the perfect star on the rise.
