Ava Max is back and has her sights set on calling out all the fakes in the dating world with her new single ‘Spot a Fake’. The track is expected to be the lead single from her upcoming third studio album.
‘Spot a Fake’ features Max’s signature sound both in its lyrics and production. The song’s lyrics revolve around themes of self-worth and betrayal akin to her critically acclaimed tracks ‘So Am I‘, ‘Salt’ and ‘Sweet but Psycho’. The new song stands out from her previous releases in that Max is singing this track to a guy, calling out his girlfriend’s fake behavior and intentions.
As always, Max’s vocals are confident and powerful, matching the song’s lyrics and upbeat production. With her second studio album, Diamonds & Dancefloors, dealing heavily with themes of heartbreak and personal growth, ‘Spot a Fake’ seems to hint that Max is ready to come back with a vengeance. Unfortunately, she seems to already be facing new battles; shortly after ‘Spot a Fake’ was released, she posted on X (formerly Twitter) saying “half the label fired, no more management, just released my fav song ever. well I guess I gotta make some lemonade again”.

While the future of Max’s third album and the promotion of her upcoming music might appear to be in limbo with the news of her losing her management and some label support, the pop princess doesn’t seem too deterred by the news. “So many amazing things to share with you !!!!!” she posted a few days later.
‘Spot a Fake’ is available now on all streaming platforms.
