Willett – ‘Started Over’

Fans of MTV’s Faking It or the wonderful film GBF (also starring Sasha Pieterse of Pretty Little Liars and featuring Megan Mullally) will know Michael Willett as a talented up-and-coming actor, but he surprisingly has a pretty amazing voice, too!

Willett’s latest track, ‘Started Over’ is nothing short of pop goodness that would be right at home on MTV (or rather, in the background of one of their shows for a few seconds.) Willett’s vocal versatility reminds me of another underrated musician – Simon Curtis. Michael’s voice on the track is at times melodic, robotic, high, low, and everything in between.  Lyrically however, ‘Started Over’, may not offer much insight to Willett as an artist. Lyrics never gets too personal, but in the end, all is forgiven with the song being so catchy and delightful.

With Willett building a devoted fanbase thanks to Faking It‘s success, if he continues to release genuinely enjoyable music like ‘Started Over’, he should fare well in making himself a name in pop music. ‘Started Over’ is a strong debut; one to definitely listen to on repeat and enjoy.
