Lea Michele amps up the sex appeal in her new music video for ‘On My Way’, but the result isn’t as intended. She’s undeniably grown and changed a lot from her character on Glee, and this video shows Lea in all sorts of skimpy outfits, writhing around and getting wet. Part of Lea’s charm is her voice, and the fact that she doesn’t need to be overly sexualized to be good at what she does. After the lukewarm reviews of her debut album Louder, it’s not really all that surprising to see her amp up the sexiness for a video as a last ditch attempt to increase sales and generate some buzz, but in the end ‘On My Way’ is just another bland effort from a popstar that’s as forgettable as the rest of her album.
While Lea’s talent is abundant, her career away from Glee continues to fizzle, which will hopefully get her back into doing music where she truly shines. Glee may be ending after its next season, but there are still many possibilities for Lea to go on and shine after it. Her voice is suited for Broadway or even a Disney animated blockbuster smash. That’s the Lea I’ll enjoy.
