Listen: Cruel Youth – “Diamond Days”

Teddy Sinclair and Willy Moon continue to impress as Cruel Youth. Their latest offering, “Diamond Days” is a soulful, bluesy track mourning the days gone by and a love lost. “You were just a fling, a beautiful addition to the valley of my vices,” Sinclair croons. “We’re different people, Adam and Evil.” This is the uber creative lyrical stylings that are right at home on Sinclair’s work as Natalia Kills, but her vocals – reminiscent of Amy Winehouse or even Adele – and the track’s production are much less darkpop and much more soulful. Natalia Kills’ work was never vacuous, even if the more mainstream production suggested otherwise. Cruel Youth finds Teddy Sinclair reaching new heights as she comes into her element: both her lyrical content and sonic style now mesh and the result is more raw and magical than ever.
