Who else can turn a child’s song into a funeral party with some drag queens but Iggy Azalea? Thank the gods this track is some fire — Survive the Summer seemed like an EP that had been delayed for an eternity for a reason, but ‘Sally Walker’ gives us the best, unapologetic Iggy that we’ve needed. Will that be everyone’s cup of tea? Surely not — but as M.I.A. says it’s better to be someone’s shot of whiskey than everyone’s tea.
Bringing in some of the fierce talent and freshest meme queens from RuPaul’s Drag Race was a good call for Iggy; queens Shea Couleé, Vanessa Vanjie Mateo (Miss Vanjjjiieeee!) and Mayhem Miller bring a fun drag aesthetic to the track, helping it stay on the more playful and campy side. James Charles also has a brief cameo.
Having this menage of talented artistic individuals around her has done Iggy some good in this track’s music video. She dons bright blue hair in one scene and dons a bright red hat and lace bodysuit in another while twerking on a hearse in another. Throughout the song’s visual, Iggy’s look is on point. When she said she prepares her looks to be “casket ready” the bitch meant it!
