Marina and the Diamonds surprised fans on New Year’s Eve with an early release of the new ‘Froot of the Month’ – a track from her upcoming album, FROOT. Even better than just the song itself, Marina released a video alongside it! Fans that have pre-ordered the album will get a free download of ‘Immortal’ at midnight. What a way to ring in the new year!
The song and music video for ‘Immortal’ are perhaps her darkest and most poignant. She laments over those she’s lost, reveals her fear of dying, and her desire to live forever. It’s a very haunting melancholy song that will no doubt be a perfect closer for FROOT. When Marina goes on tour, this will certainly be one of the highlights of the evening; ‘Immortal’ has all the necessary elements Marina needs to make a truly memorable and beautiful performance. ‘Immortal’ is different from the other tracks released from FROOT so far; despite being slow like ‘Happy‘, the two tracks are worlds apart, and at the same time its production and melody are more consistent with ‘FROOT‘, despite the subject matter being yin and yang.
