Marina and the Diamonds final FROOT of the Month, ‘Forget’, is perhaps the best and most simple music video from this era yet. The album itself has recently been pushed ahead to a March 16th release, and ‘Forget’ has me the most excited to hear the album in its entirety. ‘Froot’ was an amazing teaser, and ‘Immortal’, ‘Happy’, and ‘I’m A Ruin’ have all been wonderful songs with entertaining videos to accompany them, but ‘Forget’ has taken me back to the Marina I fell in love with when I first heard ‘I Am Not A Robot’ back in 2010.
Like Yin & Yang, Marina sings the song in front of a bright white background and then switches to a darker one where she’s accompanied by her band. The switch from Marina on her own to being joined by her band is skillfully done and pulls you right into what a Marina concert is like. I was instantly reminded of the times I’ve seen her live at a small club in DC, and what stage presence she had even back then before Electra Heart. The next few weeks before the release of FROOT can’t come any sooner…and it will be an unbearably painful wait for Marina to go on tour!
